Cure For Life

Song Lyrics on Allspirit

James Grant

On a morning just like this
of eternal sun and rime
You placed your kiss upon my lips
for the first time.

Your heart was the cradle
at the point of the knife
In your beauty I found the cure for life

In the Indian summer haze
I see your colours everywhere
You’re always just around the corner
on these days.

Your heart was the cradle
at the point of the knife
In your beauty I found the cure for life

In the blind and breathless dusk
You crawled inside the husk
Of my broken dream
made me believe again in love.

On a morning just like this
threw my past onto the pyre
You were the light that lit my way
out of the mire

Your heart was the cradle
at the point of the knife
In your beauty I found the cure for life

The Kiss

By Rabindranath Tagore

Lips’ language to lips’ ears.
Two drinking each other’s heart, it seems.
Two roving loves who have left home,
pilgrims to the confluence of lips.
Two waves rise by the law of love
to break and die on two sets of lips.
Two wild desires craving each other
meet at last at the body’s limits.
Love’s writing a song in dainty letters,
layers of kiss-calligraphy on lips.
Plucking flowers from two sets of lips
perhaps to thread them into a chain later.
This sweet union of lips
is the red marriage-bed of a pair of smiles.

Love-Lily

By Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Between the hands, between the brows,
Between the lips of Love-Lily,
A spirit is born whose birth endows
My blood with fire to burn through me;
Who breathes upon my gazing eyes,
Who laughs and murmurs in mine ear,
At whose least touch my colour flies,
And whom my life grows faint to hear.

Within the voice, within the heart,
Within the mind of Love-Lily,
A spirit is born who lifts apart
His tremulous wings and looks at me;
Who on my mouth his finger lays,
And shows, while whispering lutes confer,
That Eden of Love’s watered ways
Whose winds and spirits worship her.

Brows, hands, and lips, heart, mind, and voice,
Kisses and words of Love-Lily,–
Oh! bid me with your joy rejoice
Till riotous longing rest in me!
Ah! let not hope be still distraught,
But find in her its gracious goal,
Whose speech Truth knows not from her thought
Nor Love her body from her soul.
