Born in Camberwell, England in 1812, Robert Browning was a prominent Victorian poet and playwright. Browning married the poet Elizabeth Barrett in 1846 and upon their marriage they moved to Italy where they lived until Elizabeth’s death in 1861.
After his wife’s death Browning travelled extensively. His last volume of poetry was Asolando (1889), published on the day of his death. Browning died in Venice on 12 December 1889.
